The former secretary of Kentucky’s Cabinet for Health and Family Services, Adam Meier, has been nominated by Gov. Greg Gianforte to lead the Department of Health and Human Services, his office announced in a press release Tuesday afternoon.
“As Montana continues to confront the pandemic and the epidemic of addiction and drug use, an innovative, solutions-oriented Department of Public Health and Human Services has never been more important,” Republican Gianforte said in the release, adding that Meier will bring “greater transparency, accountability and efficiency” to the department.
Meier also served as deputy chief of staff for former Republican Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin and has experience at the federal level serving as a contracting officer for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the release noted.
“I am humbled and honored to join the outstanding team Governor Gianforte has assembled, along with the dedicated and talented DPHHS workforce,” Meier said in the release.
