Montana Farmers Union announces congressional candidates town hall; GOPs decline

In a Twitter post, the Montana Farmers Union said people can hear from candidates for the state’s U.S. House of Representatives races during a live congressional candidate town hall from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at the Delta Hotels Helena Colonial – Marriott.

In a phone call, the Farmers Union said Democrat Monica Tranel and Libertarian John Lamb will attend from the western district; Republican Ryan Zinke declined. Democrat Penny Ronning and Independent Gary Buchanan confirmed from the eastern district; Republican Matt Rosendale declined.

The Twitter post said ABC Fox and the Northern Ag Network will broadcast the town hall, and veteran Montana journalist Mike Dennison will moderate.

The Montana Farmers Union describes itself as a statewide grassroots organization working for family farmers, ranchers and rural communities.
