Montana Congressional candidate Gary Buchanana.

Montana’s largest union has endorsed independent Gary Buchanan for the Eastern Congressional District.

Buchanan is running against Republican incumbent Matt Rosendale and Democrat Penny Ronning for the state’s newly added congressional seat.

The decision to endorse Gary Buchanan for Congress was made by the Montana Federation of Public Employees member-leaders from across the state who conducted in-depth interviews focused on important issues affecting MFPE members, such as public funding of public services, inflation and housing costs, and pensions, the group said in a news release announcing the decision.

“Gary Buchanan is exactly what Washington, D.C. needs,” said MPFE President Amanda Curtis in the release. “He’s an independent thinker who is more concerned with getting the job done right than performing partisan political theater. Our country needs leaders who can bridge divides and pass policies that help our pocketbooks, not partisan hacks who sew division and follow a party line.”

She continued, “We deserve to be represented by a real Montanan who is as independent as we are. Gary Buchanan is that person. Matt Rosendale is a political clown.”
